Effect of Sawdust and Coconut Shell on the Mechanical Properties of Concrete

The increased demand for infrastructure due to global population growth has resulted in the depletion of natural aggregate sources and escalation cost building materials. There is also problem environmental pollution as a result wastes generated from agricultural activities. This led various studies aimed at investigating use waste materials substitutes aggregates concrete. In this research, sawdust (SD) And coconut shell (CS) were used partial replacements fine coarse respectively Concrete cubes, cylinders prisms cast tested compressive, split-tensile flexural strengths 0% (control), 10%, 20%, 30% 40% replacement sand granite by weight with SD CS respectively, after curing water 7, 14 28 days. results showed that matrix, concrete's decreased. modified mixes can however be economic alternatives lightweight concrete production reduces an increase matrix. An optimum 10% substitution recommended production.
